Raining Posies 16 x 20 x 1.5 acrylic
This painting has gone
through a major transformation. Several
months ago, my effort was a very red vase, red flower with dark blue
background. For a lone time I could not
‘see’ the issues with it. Then recently it was very clear… it least to
my way of thinking. The vase was too
flat, too centered and balanced, the flowers without much variation, only a few
lost edges, and just too obvious. I
stated adding light value and finally eliminated all the blue, replacing with
warm and cool grays with textured pattern repeated with variations. I replaced the warm in top corners with cool
blue-gray with a nice contrast to the red posies. The flowers were given warm, cool, light dark
treatment. Then I added the lines for
entertainment. When the painted dried
(and darken as acrylic does), I was finally very satisfied with it. Sold at first public viewing!
